Protocols for Predictable Aesthetic Dental Restorations

Protocols for Predictable Aesthetic Dental Restorations PDF Download Ebook. Irfan Ahmad focuses on the principles of aesthetic work across the dentist's repertoire, rather than concentrating on one particular technique. For this reason, it will add value to the range of daily restorative work in the dental surgery.

The author describes a 'chronological clinical journey', starting with clinical assessment and treatment planning, including choice of ceramic system and colour and shade analysis. He then devotes individual chapters to successive stages in treatment to provide a crown for a tooth, such as core placement, tooth preparation, temporary restoration, impression taking, try-in and cementation. Very little attention is devoted to registration methods.

Although the liberal use of photographs makes this book extremely attractive to look at, the choice of illustrative cases is curious in places. Chapter 6, for instance, shows a case with widely spaced upper anterior teeth, where a reverse overjet is created orthodontically before crowns are constructed to close residual spacing. No clinical picture of the final result is presented, but judging by the illustrations which are provided, the width/length ratio of the final restorations does not appear particularly favorable.

Aesthetic dentistry has become increasingly important to dentists and their patients. This book is designed as a springboard to assist clinicians in developing the aesthetic potential of restorative procedures. The book marries evidence-based principles with handy hints and tips the author has distilled from years of clinical experience. This combination of scientific principles with 'real world' practice will boost the confidence of budding aesthetic practitioners and clinical dental students.

Key Topics in Human Diseases for Dental Students

Key Topics in Human Diseases for Dental Students PDF Download Ebook. Prasanna Sooriakumaran, Channa Jayasena and Professor Crispian Scully offer broad base in key areas. This text allows readers to rapidly acquire an understanding of the common and important acute and chronic diseases that dentists and dental students may encounter in their patients.

Human Diseases is now often a mandatory component of training for dentists, and forms an important part in many undergraduate and professional exams. However, the amount of material to master can be overwhelming for students who need a manageable overview before they can apply the details learnt.

The authors have significant experience in teaching the topics, and the text is carefully presented to highlight the key facts a reader should take from each chapter. An essential revision guide for a range of audiences, this book will also be invaluable to medical students, house officers, GPs, nurses, and paramedics.

Such an addition would lead the interested reader to appropriate literature. The material does include sections on essential conditions that a dental student would be expected to know, such as anaphylaxis, bleeding tendency, endocarditis, HIV and neck swelling. However, some sections have less relevance, for example gallstones, hernias, prostate cancer and urinary tract infections.

The material, which includes 50 topic-based sections, is presented in alphabetical order starting with subjects such as acute abdominal pain, allergy and anaemia through to stroke, trauma and upper respiratory tract infections. Each topic has been allocated four or five pages to cover basic features of presentation, investigation or management. Overall, this book provides a useful revision tool for undergraduate and postgraduate dental students.

Huber and Anne Cale Jones describe the general concepts of physical evaluation, teaching essential skills and values in patient care and offering a quick reference to common problems of the head and neck. This practical clinical guide provides concise, illustrated synopses of the manifestation of common diseases and conditions in the mouth, head, and neck.

This text provides a valuable guide to the general concepts of physical evaluation, teaching essential skills and values in patient care, and offering a quick introductory reference to common pathoses and problems of the head and neck. This practical clinical guide to examination and diagnosis provides concise, illustrated synopses of the manifestation of common diseases and conditions in the mouth, head, and neck, supported by a wealth of clinical photographs and detailed medical artwork.

A practical aid to the development of diagnostic skills, this book covers the basic and applied principles of physical examination through sections on patient communication, eliciting a medical history, examination of the head and neck, and examination of the oral cavity.

The book also covers other diagnostic methods, such as radiographic interpretation and diagnosis and laboratory methods. It concludes with a useful chapter that puts everything together allowing the reader to understand how diagnosis and examination relates to treatment planning, consultations, and referrals.

It will be a useful clinical companion for pre-doctoral students, who will find it an easy-to-use and ready reference, as well as a helpful resource and refresher for dental hygiene students, dental hygienists, and practicing dentists.

Offering the practicing dentist a solid grounding in patient examination, evaluation, and diagnosis, it is an invaluable chair-side reference aimed at predoctoral dentists, dental hygiene students, practicing dentists, and hygienists.

Dentist's Guide to Medical Conditions and Complications

Dentist's Guide to Medical Conditions and Complications PDF Download Ebook. Kanchan Ganda covers information on epidemiology, physiology, pathophysiology, laboratory test evaluation, pharmacology, and dental alerts, as well as possible deviations in the use of anesthetics, analgesics, and antibiotics.

It is a highly accessible reference to dental treatment of medically compromised patients. The ability to treat medically compromised patients is necessary for most dentists and dental professionals, and this book serves as a guide to effectively treat these patients. In a succinct, easy-to-use format, this book outlines protocols for treating patients with common conditions, presents essential drug interaction information, and guides the dental professional through the prevention and management of in-office medical emergencies.

In general, the pharmacology portions and inclusion of drug interactions and contraindications throughout the book are extremely beneficial since dentists often perceive pharmacology as an area of weakness. In fact, it would have been useful to include the term “pharmacology” in the book’s title.

The book’s table of contents and index are structured to allow easy identification of topics of interest, but its organization is not immediately intuitive. The style is succinct, using a bulletlike format in sections, and the tables and figures are helpful. Although pharmacology and drug interactions are emphasized in the book, it does not provide in-depth physiologic disease background.

As a result, it’s not clear if this text would be the best choice for a single text for dental students, though it could be a good adjunct for dental students and a helpful guide for graduate students and practitioners with advanced background training. As contemporary approaches to medical management vary according to a clinician’s interpretation of the literature and clinical experience, readers may expect to have differing views regarding treatment and potential complications. Covering a variety of common conditions, the book's practical format will help practicing dentists hone their skills for treating medically compromised patients. It is useful for practicing dentists, dental students, and dental hygienists.

Comparative Dental Morphology: 14th International Symposium

Comparative Dental Morphology: Selected Papers of the 14th International Symposium PDF Download Ebook. T. Koppe, G. Meyer, K. W. Alt and A. Brook show how information about various aspects of dental morphology can be used to explore the evolution of vertebrate life histories, a subject most relevant to our own species.

The book contains up-to-date original papers intended to provide a broad picture on the current aspects of research in dental morphology. There are 30 selected papers arranged into sections, including dental evolution, dental morphology, dental tissues, and dental growth and development.

Teeth and their surrounding structures are exceptional sources for addressing significant questions in numerous disciplines. In this book, an international, multidisciplinary team of researchers addresses important issues on current aspects of dental morphology research from evolutionary, anatomical, clinical and archaeological perspectives. This text combines leading-edge methods of data acquisition and analyses, such as molecular analyses and highly advanced non-destructive imaging technologies.
